Spring Has Sprung!
I wanted to blog about marriage today. Someone very close to me was telling me of an analogy she used with her husband about salvation. She used the analogy of marriage in describing our relationship with Christ. I told her that this was the perfect analogy to describe our relationship with Christ because marriage is the model the word gives us. She is a new believer and did not even know that. I love it when we speak by the spirit and not even realize what we are doing, but then when we get finished, we think to ourselves, man that was too good to come from me. That is cool!
Now, I wanted to talk to those who are struggling with their marriages right now. There is no condemnation in Christ Jesus. We can only do what we can do and then we have to allow the Lord to do what we cannot. There are some escape clauses (this is what I call them) in dealing with marriage. If the unbeliever leaves, your free. If there has been adultery, your free. Now if you chose to stand for that marriage that is a different thing all together, but a word to the wise, this can be a long hard process and not one for the fainthearted. In whatever situation you find yourself in, be free. That doesn’t mean to divorce if God is calling you to reconciliation, but that means don’t let how you feel now dictate to you how you are going to feel in the future. Never say never in anything.
If however, you are married, be free here too. Be happy to be one with someone. Don’t try to form your mate into your image, but let the Lord form them into his. His image is much better, one that lasts. As Spring has arrived just allow the Lord to make all things new in each one of us. There are dead things that need resurrecting now, this season. Allow the Lord to do his perfect work. There are also some dead things that will not come back to life and are not supposed to. Ask God to give us the wisdom to know the difference and then don’t resist something new that God is trying to plant. Remember, His ways are not our ways and His thoughts are not our thoughts. He knows and sees it all. We can all trust him.
